For the second
consecutive year, the MusicArte
association, under the direction of
Andrea Mascitti, in collaboration with
the Administration of the Borough of
Orsogna (Chieti), is organising the "Mario
Nascimbene Award" for Film
Musical Scores, open to
composers of all nationalities.
Nascimbene (Milan 1913 - Rome 2002) was
one of the greatest composers for both
the Italian and International cinema,
author of 400 sound tracks for films
directed by Fellini, Rossellini,
Antonioni, Vidor, and Ustinov. This award
is probably unique in its sector, both in
Italy and Europe. The Honorary President
of the competition is Gian
Luigi Rondi,
president of the Board of the David
di Donatello.The
participants are requested to submit a
musical score, not longer than three
minutes, of some scenes taken from the
film "La Prima Notte di Quiete"
of Valerio Zurlini. |

The applications
will remain open until the 24th of April
2003. The participants will have a
month's time to produce the musical score
for the film images sent.
The winner will be selected during the
final evening of Saturday, 7th June - at
the "Camillo De Nardis" theatre
in Orsogna (Chieti) - by the Awarding
Jury made up of the composer and
musician, as well as Artistic Director of
the theatre Scala di Milano, Roman Vlad
(President); film critic Ermanno Comuzio;
cinema director Carlo Lizzani; composers
and orchestra conductors Lino Patruno and
Roberto Pregadio; composer Carlo
Rustichelli and University Professor
Emeritus of Film History and Criticism
Mario Verdone. The first classified, who
will receive a scholarship of one
thousand Euro, will be pointed out to
several Film Production Companies.
