ARTICLE 1: ORGANISING CORPORATION
"MusicArte" International announces the FOURTH EDITION of the "MARIO NASCIMBENE" AWARD (hereof referred to as MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD or Competition), dedicated to the figure "Maestro" Mario Nascimbene (Milan 1913 - Rome 2002), composer of four-hundred soundtracks for the Italian and international cinema.
ARTICLE 2: REQUIREMENTS
The MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD is open to composers of all nationalities.
ARTICLE 3: SCHEDULE
The MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD takes place on Saturday 26nd November
2005 at the "Camillo De Nardis" theatre of Orsogna (Chieti).
ARTICLE 4: JURIES
There are 2 committees: the Selecting Jury and the Awarding Jury
a) The Selecting Jury is made up of

b) The Awarding Jury is made up of

- FRANCO DE GEMINI - composer
- FRANCESCO DE MASI -composer
- ROBERTO PREGADIO - composer
- ANGELO PRIVITERA - musician
- LUCA BANDIRALI - film critic
ARTICLE 5: PROCEDURE
a) The participants are asked to prepare a piece of music for some scenes taken from the film
"La Garçonnière" by Giuseppe De Santis.
b) The strip will last about 5 minutes.
c) Candidates are allowed to compose the scenes absolutely freely.
d) The strip has to be sent as a registered letter (A/R) on 28st
October 2005.
e) Each candidate must specify on the application form the support on which the strip will be received by putting a tick in the correct box.
f) The strip is available on VHS and CD ROM (formats MPEG 4,
QUICK TIME and AVI).
g) The compositions should be unpublished and should never have been performed at any concert or public event.
ARTICLE 6: APPLICATION
a) In order to apply for the MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD the application form and receipt for payment have to be sent via fax at the number 0871/867734. If you wish you can also send the application form and photocopy of the receipt for payment in a sealed envelope to "MusicArte" International - Via Vignaiuoli, 87 - 66036 Orsogna (Chieti).
b) The application fee for the competition is 55 € (fifty-five euros)
including the cost and sending of the supporting strip, taken from the film
"La Garçonnière", as a registered letter (A/R).
c) The application fee has to be paid by postal order made out to

d) Insert the title "Application for MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD 2005" on the description.
e) The application deadline is 27th October 2005.
f) After having received the application form and the receipt for payment, the Award Secretary will mail to each participant his/her application code.
The code can be used on the MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD internet site (www.nascimbeneaward.net//segreteria.htm) to ask for any further information.
ARTICLE 7: MATERIALS TO BE SENT TO THE SECRETARY OF THE COMPETITION
The following materials must be sent by 21th November 2005 (postmark):
a) Four copies of the scores;
b) a composition record on CD;
The candidates can also send the editing of the musical score on
VHS or formatted MPEG, QUICK TIME or AVI.
ARTICLE 8: SELECTION
a) The Selecting Jury will examine and select five compositions among those received. Selections will be held at the "Centro Polivalente" of Orsogna between
23th and 25st November 2005. The calendar will be fixed by the Art Direction, according to the number of participants. The
five final candidates selected by the Selecting Jury will be admitted to the Final performance, which will take place on Saturday
26nd November 2005 at the "Camillo De Nardis" theatre of Orsogna. The finalists will be contacted by the MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD Art Direction and must be present at the Award Ceremony.
b) The Awarding Jury will meet on Saturday afternoon 26nd November
2005 in order to examine the six final compositions and select the winner of the MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD.
c) In their sovereignty and authority the Selecting Jury and Awarding Jury have the faculty to decide on the selection criteria of the competing compositions and to take indisputable decisions. They also have the faculty to assign possible "diploma with merits".
d) The members of the jury who have or have had in the last two years, prior the beginning of the examinations, public or private didactic relations with one or more competitors will abstain from participating to the discussion and expressing any evaluation on the competitors' exams. The abstention will be notified explicitly on the minutes. At the array of the jury each member will release a declaration on his/her personal situation regarding the competitors.
ARTICLE 9: AWARD
The best composition will be awarded the MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD. The winner will be recommended to the Film Production Corporation and will receive a scholarship of
2,500 €. The second and third winner will be given a prize and a participant diploma .
ARTICLE 10: RECORDING RIGHTS
The MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD will be recorded. The participants in the competition renounce onwards and definitely any rights concerning the distribution of phonographic and/or audio records, as well as radio television broadcast and/or telematic net records. The candidates recognise that all rights on the referred materials are hold by "MusicArte" International.
ARTICLE 11: GENERAL AND FINAL REGULATIONS
a) Each participant has to make sure that the materials arrive at the Award Secretary. The organisers decline any responsibility on possible damage or loss.
b) In case the Competition does not take place, the application fee will be returned. The Direction has the faculty to make variations on the announcement, to substitute the members of the jury in case of serious hindrance or to move the award's date. The sent materials will not be returned.
c) The Direction keeps the right not to open the competition within the expected date if the applications are considered not sufficient, if compared to the established minimum, or for technical reasons.
d) One copy for each composition sent will be deposited in the MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD archive.
e) In public events the winner promises to indicate the subtitle of his/her composition as follows: Award-winning composition of MARIO NASCIMBENE AWARD.
ARTICLE 12: AGREEMENT ON THE CONDITIONS
Full agreement is made on the present competition by signing the application form. The Court of Chieti has the jurisdiction on any
controversy.
